This week Lime class enjoyed a special themed week all about Easter. We all enjoyed exploring our sensory focus tray in class filled with Easter baskets, eggs and chicks. All of our learning was focused around the topic of Easter, during our workstation tasks we practised our one to one correspondence by matching plastic eggs in egg boxes. We also completed a fine motor activity, picking up eggs out of water with a spoon and posting them in a container. We enjoyed mark making activities, using potato mashers to make egg prints and rolling eggs through paint.
We had lot of fun during our attention autism sessions as we splatted fried eggs, threw paint filled eggs at the wall and knocked humpty dumpty eggs off the wall.
We also learnt about the Christian faith through our sensory Easter story that featured bread, special pebbles, bandages and hammering nails into polystyrene to represent the crucifixion. We also took turns to roll a big ball around to close the tomb and we celebrated Jesus rising again by listening to happy music and eating chocolate!
During cookery we made a chocolate Easter bark using chocolate, bunnies and Easter decorations.
We also went on an educational visit to the park and to look out for new life along the way. We saw some beautiful daffodils and enjoyed exploring the playgrounds equipment.
