Welcome to Ruby Class!

Ruby Class is made up of 4 boys and 3 girls who love to get messy and explore their environment. Rachel is our teacher and we have two amazing teaching assistants called Caroline and Jodie to help us with our learning.

We follow a pre-formal curriculum and use the Engagement Model, which focuses on us developing skills of exploration, realisation, anticipation, persistence and initiation.  We practice this through a range of multi-sensory and play-based learning activities, which we often repeat in order to develop familiarity.

Our curriculum is individualised according to each of the children's needs and includes a range of group sessions, such as Attention Autism, Sensory Story and Sensology, and individual adult-led and child-led activities. These help us to develop our social communication and emotional regulation.

This page will be regularly updated with all of the lovely activities we get up to in school.

Please contact me via Dojo if you have any questions or require any home learning/visual supports.

Our topic for the Autumn term is 'Out of this World!'. We will be sharing space-themed sensory stories, a Sensology session all about a journey on a rocket and a rhyme time session with songs, actions and props linked to the topic of space. Our cookery and art sessions will also link to the termly topic where possible.

Our topic for the Spring term is 'Food, glorious, food!'. During this term we will be linking food to celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Easter and Valentine's Day. We will also be using food from various countries as the basis for stories, art and cookery.
