Aqua class had lots of fun at the end of the Autumn term as we were celebrating Christmas!! We enjoyed a daily sensory story that featured an advent calendar, a Christmas tree, candles and even fake snow! Each child also had to hang up their own stocking and at the end of the story Santa arrived with presents for everyone! All of the children really enjoyed the story and it helped them to learn about the importance of Christmas.
During our RE lessons we also learnt about the Nativity story. The children explored this through sensory props such as a star, angel wings, wooden clackers for the donkey, wool for the sheep and presents for the Baby Jesus. We also enjoyed a visit to a local Church. We explored the Church environment and learnt about the meaning of important Christian symbols and artefacts.
Our creative lessons were also centred around Christmas, we made some lovely art work such as rolling baubles through paint, making snowmen pictures using cotton wool and decorating personalised calendars to send home.
We also enjoyed taking part in our school Christmas performance. It was an alternative Christmas story and Aqua class were very proud to play the important part of the wise men who went shopping to the ‘ASDA’ to buy the Baby Jesus some presents. We had great fun using the props such as the trollies and the uniforms. Aqua class did an amazing job at the ‘trolley dash’ – Well done everyone!!
Santa claus also popped into Aqua class for a visit and brought each child a present. The children have really enjoyed this special time in school with lots of treats and surprises. See you all in the New Year x
