Purple

Welcome to Purple class!

We are an enthusiastic, lively and hard-working class of 10 children and 4 grown ups; Kay teaches in Class Monday to Wednesday and Amy teaches in class Wednesday to Friday. Sian, Leigh and Adele support the class all week alongside Hayley, our lunchtime supervisor.

Purple Class follows the 'Semi-Formal' Curriculum Pathway, meaning our focus is on

equipping pupils with the necessary skills, knowledge, understanding and experience to become more independent learners.  Purple Class timetable is structured around the core areas of communication and language, early literacy, early maths, physical development, science and personal, social and emotional development. The semi formal curriculum is also designed to address difficulties that children may have in the areas of communication and language, understanding, sensory integration, emotional regulation, attention and focus, physical mobility, social skills and independence.

Autumn Term

This Term our Topic is 'Out of this World'.

We have been looking at different exciting stories this term, including 'Whatever Next', 'An Out of this World Adventure', 'There's a Witch in my Book' and 'That's not my Alien'.

We have been practising our shapes, position and direction (up, down etc) and counting and recognising numerals in maths.

We have been getting creative and messy during our messy play sessions and in our cookery, art and golden time. We have made our own plants, firework pictures and starry galaxy pictures, as well as Autumn Trees using homemade 'leaf confetti'.

During our PE sessions, we have been using the soft play area to practise our balancing, moving and changing direction and also our play skills and how to play with each other. Our hall sessions have involved different ways of travelling over obstacles and stopping and starting. We enjoyed our Shadow Dance Coaching sessions in Autumn 2 and even used the skills and dance routine we learnt in our Christmas Performance, dancing to 'Run Run Rudolph'.
