Numeracy and Mathematics

 

Jade class do daily counting and number work through songs and actions called 'Maths Dictionary',  and we love developing our skills and knowledge through lots of different activities; we do practical games, small group work and online interactive games to encourage the love of number and teach the importance of number in the real world!  Our current focus is confidence with the number system, counting forwards and back, identifying missing numbers and understanding that the numeral represents an amount.  Jade class's favourite games are cookie monster counting, 'one more' and 'don't get the teacher wet' which gets very splashy!

 

In mathematics we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and repeated patterns. We have been on a shape hunt and found lots of different shapes around the whole school!
