History and My World
As part of Understanding the World, we explore a wide range of exciting topics to help develop our understanding of key events in our own lives, such as birthdays and important family events, as well developing an appreciation for key events beyond living memory, giving us a sense of History of the World.
This term our whole school topic is 'Happily Ever After' where we use traditional tales to explore fantastical real-life places and events. Jade class have been finding out all about castles, how they were built, who lived in them, and using this as a springboard into functional and creative writing, design and technology and even role-play.
The children recently discovered an ancient letter from the mysterious 'Sir Galavant of Pensby', who has set the children on a quest to help him protect his castle from attack. If they succeed, the children will be rewarded with a magnificent banquet party at the end of term. Stay tuned to find out if they are successful!
