Reading and Writing
Jade class just love stories and reading! We practise reading each day and every afternoon we have a guided reading story session, this could be a traditional tale, a funny class novel or even a sensory story where we explore artefacts, props, costumes as well as even foods and scents which help bring the story to life! The class are also exploring non-fiction books and are learning the skills of how to locate information to enrich our learning.
During literacy sessions we focus on a range of topics, and work on composing pieces of writing within the context of a range of areas such as our Science or History. This year we are going to be learning to write and compose our own works including imaginative writing, stories, letters, emails and love to do role play as well as much more! In Jade class we practise our handwriting each day whether it is on paper or a whiteboard, these fine motor skills are important in all the different subjects we do.
